Job summary
As one of our developers, you’ll play a key role in our team developing the future of immersive web experiences as Web3 and the Metaverse open new opportunities. We deliver web-based experiences for a number of clients and this role is designed to support and expand our capability in that area. The role will include using creative designs and wireframes to build websites, web applications, admin consoles and CMSs. Depending on the size of the project, you’ll be working either as part of a development team or independently, so you need to be comfortable doing both.

This role is technical, so it’ll be important during the recruitment process to provide demonstrable experience of the skills and experience required.
Key responsibilities include
- Designing and implementing CMSs and back-end configuration with platforms like Azure
- Producing bug-free code while achieving objectives within an allocated timeframe
- Working with RESTful APIs to implement first- and third-party solutions
- Deploying, maintaining and supporting applications hosted in the cloud
- Working with Azure DevOps and managing your time to achieve the required output quality
- Being involved in debugging your and other developers’ code as well as participating in testing
- Working with purely creative teams on a wide range of project types
- Assuring security of the applications you develop and implementing best-practice security guidelines
- Assisting in research and development to discover new ideas, trends and technologies that will help Volume exceed client expectations
Skills
- Ability to use Angular, semantic HTML5, CSS3 and Web GL to deliver world-class web experiences
- Two to three years’ experience in a creative web technology (or similar role in interactive content creation)
- Experience in HTML5/CSS, SCSS, hybrid app interfaces, web banners, promotional sites, CMS back and front end, and back-end APIs, with some examples you can share
- Proven experience in MySQL and/or SQLServer
- Demonstrable skills in some/all the following: ASP.NET, JavaScript, ES6, jQuery, Three.js, JSARToolKit, NodeJS, React, Bootstrap, Python, C++, C#, PHP
- Exposure to design in video games, immersive media, or UX design would be helpful
- Visual Studio, VS Code, Unity, Unreal, 3DS Max and Blender experience would be a bonus

- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and agile team
- A keen eye for detail
- The ability to work effectively independently as well as in a team
- A proactive interest in trying new technologies and the ability to establish a working baseline with these quickly
- The confidence to communicate clearly with creative and production teams
- Knowledge of working with and optimising 3D models suitable for real-time applications is desirable
- Knowledge of ML and AI is desirable
- Knowledge of blockchain would be a bonus

Our roles are hybrid and as such there is an expectation to attend Volume meetings or sessions in-person from time to time in Plymouth or Reading. We conduct team meetings online.
