Account Director

As an account director with us, you’ll have the opportunity to work across a number of leading brands and deliver a range of projects, from immersive experiences to integrated digital campaigns to gamified sales-enablement applications and much more. Job summary

You’ll lead a client account or set of accounts and ensure that they’re successful, profitable and growing. You’ll be responsible for the delivery of quality output that exceeds clients’ expectations and addresses their business problems. You’ll achieve this through the effective management of your own team, and championing the best client outcomes. You’ll have the ability to lead and inspire others within the agency. You can expect regular involvement with pitches for new business, approaching these with a creative, strategic and commercial mindset. Not afraid to roll your sleeves up, you’ll be a doer, and proactive with your accounts. You’ll continually demonstrate a great understanding of all aspects of marketing and the mentality to push creative boundaries.

We’ll expect you to provide strategic counsel whilst having a good understanding of your clients’ business and pain points; you’ll contribute fresh perspectives and new ideas, challenge thinking and provide high-value guidance. Volume has a significant focus on finding new ways to bring brands closer to their customers by using all aspects of the marketing mix.

With exceptional people-management skills, first-rate knowledge of industry trends and client brand processes, and excellent attention to detail, we’ll need you to provide exceptional tactical and day-to-day account support and to proactively develop and grow the account, extending opportunities and relationships with new clients and across new geographical boundaries.

Skills and personal qualities

  • Two to three years in a senior account-management role
  • Evidence of clear progression through account-management/client services roles
  • Experience of identifying and attaining new business opportunities
  • A strong understanding of client brands and values
  • Experience of monitoring and reporting client profitability, along with revenue forecast planning
  • Maintaining a detailed awareness of relevant market trends affecting your accounts, and developments in the wider technology, marketing and communications industries
  • A strategic mindset with a strong eye for detail
  • Excellent relationship-building skills, with the ability to understand client demands
  • Leadership qualities: being prepared to share credit and shoulder difficulties
  • An understanding of digital and emerging technologies
  • Effective negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of and passion for your clients’ businesses
